SIMPLE WALLET (PDF w/SVG)
This is the "TURNED-EDGE" version of The Simple Wallet.
(There is also a Raw-Edge version of this pattern in a separate listing.)
This is a downloadable digital PDF pattern with SVG available. From the drop down menu above, You can select either PDF w/SVG* or PDF only. The PDF with SVG is contained within a zip file; your device must be capable of extracting a zip file to access the SVGs.
ABOUT
The silhouette of this leather wallet includes soft-corner curves coupled with crisp-folds, accent detailing, and a turned-edge -- all giving it a sleek and polished finish, while still being a modest and simple wallet that is fast and easy to make. The wallet comes together fast using an Accordion Insert, which is required to make the wallet. (See image in this gallery. and see source listing below.)
This is an abbreviated pattern. As an abbreviated pattern it does not include step-by-step photo-instruction. However, It does include a "Construction Summary along with detailed visual diagrams and templates for easy and accurate assembly. All helping you achieve a professional-looking finish. The pattern was designed to be made using a thin leather, that does not need to be skived.
While designed as a leather pattern, it can be adapted for Vinyl using the included appendix. Two appendices are included - one for using vinyl, and the second which includes detailed step-by-step photo instruction on how to instal a wing snap.

FINISHED SIZE is 4.6" wide x 2.9" high x 1.125" deep
LEVEL is intermediate. Requires basic leather-crafting skills including using contact cement and turned edges, and optionally edge-coating the (optional) accents. You will also need to know how to install a Spring Snap. (Or otherwise use the appendix for detail on installing the hidden wing-snap that is hidden behind the optional front flap badge.)
While designed for leather, a solid-intermediate bag maker should find the pattern easy to adapt for use with vinyl, using the included appendix. Cork is not recommended for this pattern due to the crisp wallet folds. Below are requirement for leather. (You will use the pattern's vinyl appendix for alternative supplies.)

Materials For "Turned-Edge" Wallet
For items 1-4, approximately 1 square foot of each, if purchasing new. However if from scraps, you will use approximately half of this.

Main Leather: 1.75 - 2oz Soft in temper (Goatskin, Lamskin, or thin/soft calf)

Accent Leather: 2.25-2.5oz in soft/medium or Medium temper

Lining: a 0.14-0.5mm Leather "Wallet Liner" preferably self-adhesive (pattern includes a reference/sourcing page)

Bonded-Leather-Reinforcement: .4mm Salpa or equivalent (depending on leather thickness) (Patten includes detail on combining leather and reinforcement combo which should not exceed more than 5oz.
- Cardstock: Recommended for paper pieces and templates

Snap in 14-18mm: Spring Snap for basic or Magnetic-WIng snap if using the optional decorative badge on front flap

Tools/Supplies
In addition to typical sewing/bag-making items, you will specifically need the following leather-craft items:
- Adhesive: Water-based Contact Cement (e.g.Aquilim 315)
- Gluing/Pressing Seams: awl, bone folder, and roller
- Marking/Scoring: Metal ruler, silver pen
- Cutting: sharp leather scissors, rotary cutter, utility knife
- Basting: narrow double-sided tape 3-5mm
- Extremely Helpful Items: leather thickness gauge to check material thickness combinations

Machine
For this Turned-Edge wallet, your machine be capable of sewing (thin) leather and layers. While an industrial is recommended, the pattern is do-able on some domestics. A cylinder arm is helpful for final topstitching, but not mandatory.
COMPARING THE TURNED-EDGE TO THE RAW-EDGE VERSION OF PATTERN
- This "Turned-Edge" version pattern is geared to leather-crafters and is recommended for intermediate makers.
- The "Raw-Edge" version of the pattern is suited to vinyl or leather. It is recommended for confident-beginner to intermediate makers.
- While the body-silhouette is similar in both patterns, the body piece is shaped slightly different. However, the accents from both patterns can be used interchangeably on either pattern. Below is a side-by-side comparison.

Once purchased and downloaded no refunds are issued. This pattern is available as either a PDF only or a PDF with SVG. Select one from the drop down and add to cart. The PDF with SVG files download as a (compressed) ZIP file. You and your device must be capable of downloading and extracting a zip file. (Some older mobile devices don't work with zips.) With the SVG, you must know how to use your cutting machine, its settings and its software. Some machine software is known to change the dimensions of a file upon import. As each SVG includes a 1-inch squaring tile, you can use this to scale the items in your cutting software if you have issues. Some cutting machines do NOT cut shapes/holes properly if they are smaller than 1/4" especially when using a utility blade and and not a precision blade. Instructions on how to use a cutting machine and its software are not included in this pattern.
